Hi Kori, I just saw your post and lakeland is a good area. I have several friends who live there and like it. I live between base and Valdosta and like it a lot because I am less than 5 miles from base and ten minutes from everything in town. It depends on what you are interested in being close to. Like most towns there are neighborhoods everywhere that you may not want to be in but Valdosta is a small town so if you are concerned with schools you may want to check the school zones that you are going to be buying a house in. Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with and I hope your move goes smoothly. I look forward to meeting you in Feb. Emily historian@moodyspousesclub.com

Welcome to the Moddy area! We just moved here in May of 08. We looked EVERYWHERE and settled on the County Schools, after MUCH research, and moved in to the Grove Pointe Subdivision. It is about 15 - 20 minutes from the base. My hubby takes the 'back roads' and gets there in no time, with very little traffic. There are houses in different sections with different price ranges, depending on size requirements etc. If you need any help, feel free to let me know! Welcome!

We used USAA to find a realtor because we bank with them and they will give you a cash rebate for using their suggested realtor to purchase a house (and if you don't like the realtor, tell USAA and they will get you a different one). It worked out really well for us. Our realtor was Sue Tyner at Caldwell Banker, she was super nice.
